Frozen Art

Frozen Art - I find ice intensely alluring. I once visited a little creek here in New Mexico, every day through all kinds of weather, for an entire winter, just to experience ice forming along the creek’s edge. With my gortex rain pants on, I sat in freezing water, ‘with’ the ice, for hours on end.
At dusk, as temperatures dropped, I was able to witness water freezing. Fraction-by-fraction I watched ice creep out across the creek, until it eventually met ice creeping from the opposite bank. Each side yearning to touch the other. During those days, the various formations shared untold stories. They spoke to me and with me, and I learned that ice is alive. It lives with creativity, feeling and consciousness.
If one is able to spend intimate time with nature, they start to witness the finest art in the world. As an artist, I marvel over the fact that I need no brushes, no paints or canvas. Nature does all the arranging and designing, and creates all the colors, movement, light and shadow. I only need open my heart and see what is happening all around me. Love, Robin
